How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

First of all, apologies for the very long hiatus from the blog! Laziness and life happened, and after I found myself sharing more/new information with friends, I was like wait a minute….I need to write again! Today’s topic is an important one. Like…a really important one. Washing your makeup brushes is soooo important for staying break-out free and ensuring the best makeup application. I know it doesn’t sound super fun but I promise it will improve the condition of your brushes, your skin, and dare I say…your life.

I know girls that have NEVER washed their brushes, and I am talking years (you know who you are.) This is horrible for many reasons, but the main one is that your brushes are now crawling with bacteria and you are letting that touch your skin over and over again. The only brush of mine that gets daily usage is my powder foundation brush and I aim to wash that once a week. I am in no way saying that you need to wash all of your brushes constantly, but the ones that get frequent usage definitely need some TLC. It prevents product from building up and that, in turn, helps with a smooth application of whatever makeup you are using. Continue reading “How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes”

Iceland 2017: Land of Fire and Ice

Iceland is hands down one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. The mountains, the glaciers, the waterfalls…all straight out of a nature documentary. It was also just nice to go to a place that’s not overflowing with people. Many of the stops that we made while driving were very peaceful and it was so refreshing to just experience quiet beauty for once.

In terms of how I got there, we flew from Dallas, TX to Minneapolis, MN to Reykjavik, Iceland. The flight from Minneapolis to Reykjavik was approx. 6 hours which is not bad at all. It was me, my parents, and our close family friends who we travel with often (7 of us total.) We had a tour guide that drove us around for the week, which I would definitely recommend if you are with a group. The guide was very knowledgeable and the van fit all of our stuff comfortably. And yes, the moms did bring an entire bag each of just Indian snacks that were both subjected to additional security scanning at the airport. Some things never change. Skincare for Traveling/Planes

I don’t know if others feel this way about flying on a plane, but I hate how gross your face feels afterwards. If I don’t need to be somewhere immediately after landing, I never wear makeup. Instead, I focus on my skincare. Air travel can be very dehydrating and drying for your skin. The cabin is pressurized, meaning that all the air that’s in there once the door closes just gets recycled during the entire flight and it’s typically always dry. I always feel my skin starting to get tight shortly after takeoff and I personally HATE that feeling. My goal now is always to counteract and prevent that feeling by using really hydrating and nourishing products to ensure that I don’t look a zombie upon landing.
